Joe Nevin named Fellow of the Retail Design Institute
Joseph P. Nevin, Jr., Senior Principal at Bergmeyer Associates, Inc., was named Fellow of the Retail Design Institute at the 2013 Awards Gala on January 14th. This prestigious honor is granted to those who have achieved the highest degree of professionalism and performed outstanding service to and on behalf of the Retail Design Institute. Widely recognized as a leader in the field of retail store design, Joe has been an active member of the Retail Design Institute for over two decades, and has served as Boston Chapter President for two years. Joe’s comprehensive understanding of brand analysis, identity development, visual merchandising, and store planning has taken Bergmeyer to national prominence and an international marketplace in this field.

Matthew Hyatt, AIA, LEED AP BD+C Promoted to Principal
Bergmeyer Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce the promotion of Matthew Hyatt, AIA, LEED AP BD+C to Principal. As one of Bergmeyer’s most creative designers, Matt directs a number of diverse design teams from research and idea generation through concept development and implementation. An award-winning designer and dynamic collaborator, Matt has a lively imagination and a sophisticated sense of materials and form. An experienced architect, he understands construction and how ideas are translated in the built environment and encourages the contributions of fabricators and builders as well as clients and stakeholders as critical participants in his widely-inclusive design process. Some of Matt’s most notable projects include: West Marine, Ft. Lauderdale, FL (2011 Chain Store Age Retail Store of the Year Award), L.L.Bean (2008 IIDA New England Interior Design Awards, Best Retail Design), Table 1280, Atlanta, GA (AIA Honor Award for Interior Architecture 2006), and the recently completed University Dining Commons at UMass - Lowell.

Matt earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree at Cornell University and his Master of Architecture degree at Harvard University.

During the weekend of November 17-18, TEDxBeaconStreet presented a series of free events for a cross-generational audience. Bergmeyer was selected to design a stage representing the conference’s theme, “Ideas in Action.” The team’s interpretation of the given theme resulted in a towering “Tree of Knowledge” composed of recycled paper airplanes with “ideas” written inside each plane, and the iconic TEDx red floor dot created from recycled carpet.   [Read More]

Mare Weiss, IIDA, Associate at Bergmeyer Associates, Inc. has been elected as the 2012-2014 Retail Design Institute Boston Chapter President. Mare is one of Bergmeyer’s most experienced retail designers. With a breadth of knowledge in store planning, operations, fixture design, and merchandising and an ability to affect design concepts that lead to delightfully successful consumer environments, Mare knows this market inside and out. Prototypes and implementation, soft goods and hard goods, big box, boutiques, and showrooms are all part of her métier. A skilled team leader as well as collaborator, Mare can describe the evolution of sophisticated design concepts in a way that builds consensus and understanding.
