What motivated you to become a designer (or current role?)?

Being told in Architecture School you can’t design using computers and 3D. I set out to prove them all wrong.

When you are retired and look back on your life, what is the biggest accomplishment you hope to achieve?

Leaving a better world for my grandchildren and generations after.

What does successful workplace culture mean to you?

Creating a space that is safe, collaborative, and virtually anywhere where all voices are represented and considered.

If you had to pick one word that best represents Bergmeyer's culture, what would it be, and why?

Family, I have always just felt Bergmeyer is my family, not just a job or career.

What would you be doing if you were not working in this industry?

Designing and forging custom cutlery. Maybe develop an app to do so.

Do you have a talent (outside of being your talented self at Bergmeyer) that you are proud of?

I have been a builder my whole life; homes, furniture, and motorcycles. I have dabbled in graphic design; t-shirts, poker chips, and logos. In my later years, I have become more of a traveler and collector of custom knives. Although not really a talent I can capture, maybe knife sharpening.

What advice would you give to your twenty-year-old self?

Buy as much Apple, Microsoft, Autodesk, and Google stock as you can afford.

Where would you take a month-long road trip?

Texas to Alaska via motorcycle.

What's your beverage of choice?

Starbucks 3 long shots over ice with splash of half and half.

What were your first seven jobs?

Stock Person, Carpenter, Bartender, CAD Operator, 3D Modeler, Unix Systems Administrator, and IT Manager.

What was your best Halloween costume?

Blues Brothers (Elwood) and my buddy was a spitting image of Jake.

What’s your favorite life hack?

Binder Clip = Money Clip, Cable Tie, Key Holder and Snack Bag Closer.
