We are proud to announce the promotion of four colleagues who have been named Associates and Senior Associate. Each of these people has played an important role in Bergmeyer’s recent success, and have contributed in their own ways to our dynamic firm culture. Congratulations to Jef, Stephanie, Jess and Andrea!

Jef Leon, AIA

Jef works closely with our client and project partners to lead creative direction, manage project team delivery, and identify opportunities for us to add greater value.

He came to Bergmeyer with an extensive background in restaurant and hospitality design drawn from branding and consumer-experience based thinking. Motivated by his passion for inspired yet practical design, he serves as key advisor for food service projects and leads Bergmeyer’s growing hospitality sector.

Jef is a registered Architect in Massachusetts, and a member of the Boston Society of Architects (a chapter of the American Institute of Architects), the Massachusetts Restaurant Association, the Massachusetts Lodging Association, and the Hospitality Network NEWH. Jef was also a thesis advisor and studio instructor at the New England School of Art & Design. He is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon School of Architecture with a minor from the School of Design.

Jef lives in Boston’s historic Back Bay with his wife, Laura. They share a passion for cooking, golf, and jogging together along Boston’s Charles River.

Stephanie Jones, IIDA, NCIDQ

With an eye for detail and a knack for design, Stephanie has played an integral role in many of Bergmeyer’s retail interiors projects as both project manager and lead designer. Ranging from implementation and rollouts to prototype design, Stephanie strives to be well rounded in all aspects of her work. Although she has primarily worked in retail design, Stephanie is now expanding her expertise into the housing, restaurant and hospitality markets.

Stephanie is an active member of IIDA New England and was named an IIDA Emerging Leader in 2015. She enjoys serving on several of the organization’s committees, and participates in mentoring programs for aspiring designers. In 2014, she was also recognized by VMSD magazine’s Designer Dozen Awards which honors twelve up-and-coming designers under the age of 35.

Outside of designing, Stephanie enjoys cooking and exploring Boston by foot. Although she grew up mostly in the Midwest, she has called Boston home for the past 20 years and is a proud resident of Boston’s North End. She is a dedicated dog owner and she and Leia, her German Shorthaired Pointer mix, can often be found walking the esplanade in warmer weather.

Jessica Smith, Director of Human Resources and Administration

Jess is well versed in the workings of the Boston architecture scene having begun her career as an assistant to Ben Thompson. She has recruited, interviewed, hired, coached, and advised hundreds of architects and designers. She believes the 21st century workplace has new rules; the boundaries between work and the rest of life are dissolving and we need to reconsider assumptions about what drives and motivates people. In addition to being Chair of the BSA Human Resources Committee and a former Trustee of the BSA Foundation Board, Jess has worked as a volunteer in India and was Director of Personnel for Earthwatch.

She was born in Berlin, went to high school in France and England, and studied in Rome for her BA in Italian Studies. Still somewhat nomadic, she lives most of the time on the saltmarsh in Essex in what the FEMA flood map says is a flood zone. She owns a lot of waterproof boots.

Andrea Clark

Andrea joined Bergmeyer in 2006 and is an essential member of the firm’s accounting team. Her specialty is providing resource management oversight for efficient project staffing. With a rare fluency in both languages – design and accounting – Andrea is dedicated to providing our project teams with the financial analysis and reporting tools they need to meet rapidly evolving project and client requirements –all with the goal of achieving efficient project delivery and excellent customer service.

A native of the Dorchester area of Boston, Andrea enjoys traveling and loves exploring Boston’s many historic and diverse neighborhoods and restaurants with friends and her dog Sam.

Andrea holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from the Sawyer School of Management at Suffolk University.
