What was your best Halloween costume?
I made my own robot costume, and went for a vintage Jetsons’s kind of build, sort of bulky for visual impact. I wore a medium sized box, painted it all white, and added large gears all over the box in bright primary colors, almost as if Google had come out with a life sized android for your party. Unfortunately, everyone thought I was a washing machine.
If you had millions to donate, which cause would you share it with?
I’d want to give to programs getting inner city kids go to summer camps where they build soft skills in nature settings, get into the ocean, make art together, and even job shadow for a few days to get exposure to alternative pathways their life can go.
What valuable lessons did you learn from your parents?
They never said it out loud, but looking back, the most important thing I learned from my parents is to have a good sense of humor, and I love how each person’s is unique. Finding your voice and particular type of humor is a journey, and harnessing it makes you a stronger storyteller and helps you find your people in any gathering, office or city. It can also carry you through tough times, shifting the focus and giving everyone a break for a bit.
