Have you ever gotten lost on purpose?
Absolutely! In my free time, I love choosing a neighborhood I’m unfamiliar with, bringing nothing but my sketchbook, and allowing myself to get lost. I’ll wander down unfamiliar streets, discover interesting spaces, and stop to sketch whatever catches my eye. It’s my favorite way to explore a new city when traveling.
What’s the difference between art and design?
Who says there has to be a distinction? Design is the intentional planning or creation of something, while art is subjective and open to interpretation. Although design is often associated with structure and purpose, it can just as easily emerge from intuition and spontaneous impulses. Similarly, art can be deliberate and carefully constructed. I would argue that the two are far more interconnected than they are different, each offering a way to explore ideas, express creativity, and bring something new into the world.
What’s inside your favorite cocktail?
A Paloma has to be my go to cocktail. I love how the refreshing grapefruit flavor pairs perfectly with the smoothness of tequila. When I’m feeling adventurous, I’ll swap out regular tequila for Ghost Tequila, a spicy tequila that adds an extra kick and takes the drink to the next level
What are your top three travel destinations?
Istanbul, Marrakesh, and Paris are my top three favorite places. The unique styles, rich culture, and character of Istanbul are truly inspiring. Traveling to different parts of the city to visit Mosques and shops provides a unique experience of blending its rich history with modern experiences. Marrakesh captivates me with its contrast between understated exteriors and richly detailed interiors. The city’s terracotta-colored buildings create a warm, neutral exterior, while stepping inside reveals breathtaking tilework, intricate mosaics, and extraordinary craftsmanship. The traditional riads are especially beautiful, offering a sense of serenity and intimacy through their thoughtfully designed courtyards, ornate detailing, and artistic expression. I am continually in awe of the artistry and individuality reflected in each space. Although, distinctly different from Istanbul and Marrakesh, Paris holds an equally special place in my heart. Its fast-paced energy, high fashion, and vibrant street life remind me of New York City, while its architectural consistency creates an unmistakable sense of elegance. The limestone façades, wrought-iron balconies, and intricate detailing contribute to a cohesive urban character that feels both timeless and sophisticated. Beyond its architecture, Paris’s culinary culture, from its exceptional cuisine to its wine, adds another layer of indulgence that makes the city truly unforgettable. Ultimately, what makes these three cities so meaningful to me is the distinct way each translates culture into unique experiences. Istanbul inspires me through its rich history and cultural intersections, Marrakesh through its intricate craftsmanship and intimate spaces, and Paris through its architectural harmony and refined elegance.
How do you take your coffee?
My coffee order is typically an americano, though I may opt for a cappuccino later in the day. I do enjoy stepping outside my usual routine and trying seasonal/specialty latte flavors. I appreciate a subtle hint of flavor, but I prefer my coffee to remain balanced and not overly sweet.
What does music look like?
My music taste spans a wide range of genres and artists. My Spotify playlists might jump from Guns N’ Roses to Miley Cyrus to Lil Yachty, depending on my mood. I enjoy the variety, energy, and different rhythms that come with exploring diverse musical styles. I appreciate music that brings something unique to the table, whether it’s a memorable melody, a distinctive beat, or an entirely different sound. That said, Post Malone occupies a particularly generous amount of storage space in my Spotify library. The one genre you won’t find on my playlists, however, is country.
