At the crossroads of NoMa and Mt. Vernon Triangle, Toll Brother Apartment Living’s Banner Lane offers direct access to the energy, culture, and momentum of both neighborhoods. Banner Lane stands as a thoughtfully designed community that honors the area’s rich history while embracing its future, welcoming longtime neighborhood residents, multi-generational families, and newcomers alike. This Mid-Atlantic partnership with Toll Brothers Apartment Living (TBAL) builds on the success of past collaborations like The Kendrick and Cameo, reinforcing Bergmeyer’s strong relationship with the brand.
As the metropolitan area develops, Banner Lane is becoming an ideal destination for individuals and families looking to be part of an up-and-coming neighborhood. Aligned with the District's visionary urban development strategies, the project delivers contemporary living spaces that harmonize seamlessly with the city's progressive urban planning objectives. Each meticulously designed building boasts inviting amenity spaces that prioritize holistic wellness, intellectual stimulation, and community connectivity.
Bergmeyer's work on the project focused primarily on the interior design of amenity spaces, common spaces and unit design (specifically finish direction and model unit furnishing). The two buildings were envisioned as “siblings” connected through a shared visual language and brand identity, yet each with distinct characteristics that set them apart. Inspired by the love, resilience, and hope upon which the historic Sursum Corda neighborhood is built, the interiors celebrate both heritage and future.
The neutral interior finish palettes are dynamically punctuated by vibrant accent colors at key focal moments that assist in directing the residents through the space. Thoughtfully curated amenity programming, including the Greenhouse and Indoor Cabana, is based on extensive research and exploration with the client and entire project design team resulting in amenities that become stages for spontaneous interaction and shared experiences. Playful yet functional furniture and bold artwork, ranging from light and fresh to rich and sophisticated, create amenity spaces that are memorable and uplifting. Elements in the space aren't just decorative, they're visual dialogues that reflect the neighborhood's evolving narrative. The art program honors the past and looks ahead, with custom murals created specifically for Banner Lane residents to enjoy. By collaborating with local artists and designing spaces that reflect residents' eclectic lifestyles, the project creates a welcoming environment that celebrates individual stories while fostering a collective urban identity.
Banner Lane is more than a place to live—it's a platform for connection, creativity, and community. Here, every corner tells a story, every shared space becomes a potential moment of connection, and every resident contributes to the vibrant narrative of urban living.
