Willie's
Where a handshake and a bottle of wine were the only brief needed to turn a neighborhood restaurant into a space that feels like its always been there.
When chef Jamie Bissonette and the BCB3 team came to Bergmeyer about transforming a traditional pizza slice shop in Beacon Hill into something entirely their own, the process felt less like a client engagement and more like an evening among friends, because that's essentially what it was.
Over informal gatherings, bottles of wine, and a lot of good conversation, we helped bring Willie's to life: from helping to name the restaurant, designing the logo, and crafting the interior and vibe. The brief was clear from the start, a true neighborhood spot. Intimate seating, warmth you feel the moment you walk in, and a backdrop worthy of James Beard Award-winning food.
The turnaround was quick. We had previously designed the space next door, Zurito, so we understood the bones of the block and the character of Beacon Hill. That history gave us a running start, and the trust we'd built with the team gave us the creative latitude to move fast without sacrificing intention. Our partnership with the General Contractor, Studio FKIA, was flawless, we were all on the same page able to continue to design and build on the fly to keep momentum going.
What emerged is a space that feels like it's always been there, unhurried, personal, and rooted in the community it serves.
No grand statements. Just great design in service of great food, and a room that makes people want to linger. And a new Frenchie mascot.
Willie's is a reminder of why we love this work: the best projects don't always start in a conference room.
