Life is Good
Life is Good's Boston headquarters gains a soulful new gathering place — where the brand's signature optimism is written into every finish, furnishing, and frame.
Just like the optimistic spirit woven into every product they make, Life is Good sought to bring that same sense of joy and belonging into the heart of their Boston headquarters. Bergmeyer was tasked with transforming an underutilized lobby and employee area into a "Tavern", a gathering place that could embody the brand's evolving identity while giving employees a space to work, connect, and simply feel good.
Life is Good was looking for more than a design team. They wanted a collaborative partner who could translate their vision into a built environment while guiding them through the complexities of a renovation. Bergmeyer met that need, balancing the role of design and construction expert with that of an attentive listener, ensuring the client's ideas remained at the center of every decision.
The 1,670-square-foot renovation occupies the ground floor of a Fort Point office building, and from the start, it came with its share of challenges. Construction had to be carefully managed during active business hours in an open office, and above a working restaurant below. Budget constraints called for thoughtful value engineering and close collaboration with general contractor CAFCO, finding creative solutions that preserved the integrity of the design without sacrificing quality.
To strike the right balance between the brand's beloved casual optimism and a more sophisticated, grown-up aesthetic, Bergmeyer developed an interior language we might describe as “refined tavern meets mountain retreat”. Off-black wood millwork sets a warm, moody tone, while the brand's signature green, applied across the walls, makes the space unmistakably, authentically Life is Good. Rather than working against the existing bones of the space, we leaned into them: the exposed wood ceiling deck and wood-look flooring became celebrated features, grounding the new design in something real and lived-in.
The artwork tells its own story. Personal photography collected by the Life is Good team over years of building their brand fills the walls, turning the Tavern into both a gathering place and a gallery of the company's journey. Every finish, every furnishing, every detail was selected in close partnership with their marketing team to ensure the space felt cohesive, a true physical extension of the brand. The Tavern now serves as the primary hub for all-office meetings, casual collaboration, and the kind of spontaneous connection that makes a workplace feel like a community.
The result is an authentic new home within their headquarters, one that captures the warmth, optimism, and quiet depth of a brand that has always believed, quite simply, that life is good.
